The Windows 8 screenshots look amazing and the Windows 8 Explorer looks even better. However, Windows 8 still has a long way to go before being officially released and I do not want to wait such a long time to get the best features of the Windows 8 Explorer.
Luckily, the Better Explorer, a free application, brings the best of the Windows 8 explorer to my Windows 7 desktop. It has some amazing features of Windows 8 such as the collapsible ribbon user interface and the quick access toolbar. In addition, it adds tabs and even more jumplist options. However, it is not an add-on for the Windows Explorer. It is a separate program and this can be a little scary at times. The tabs are a very cool feature. In addition, copying, pasting and refresh become much easier with the quick access toolbar.
However, the program is still in the testing phase. However, I have found it to be remarkably stable but it is not a finished product yet. There are a few essential features that are missing from the program. There are no keyboard shortcuts to open anything under the file menu. The development of the program seems to be going fairly slow. However, if you cannot wait till Windows 8 then you should download this program until Windows 8 is released.
