How To Bust The Thief Who Stole Your iPhone Or Android Smartphone

Getting your smartphone nabbed is a traumatic event, but not one that can not end on a happy note. Tracking devices placed in the software of an iPhone can be a money saving event if one of the “bad guys” happens to strike. This is an article on how to strike back if you get your iPhone or Android smartphone stolen. The key is to be prepared.

Like the famous Boy Scout motto, “Be prepared”, the same should be true of every smartphone owner. These little devices are not only expensive, but also hold plenty of important personal information, including banking information. To help in a bad situation, a software named “Find My Phone” has been developed. The “Find My Phone” app comes with new iPhones and is free. It is also available for Android equipped smartphones. Using it can be a source of relief from those who have less than honorable intentions in the world.

There are stories of people and the police using this app to directly find a perpetrator. As recently as last month a suspect was caught in California with a stolen iPhone in his pocket. He apparently had just stolen it at gunpoint from a woman. The police were smart and used the app to find out where the gunman was by tracking him with the “Find My Phone” app. Officers in the area where the app had pointed out the stolen iPhone noticed a man with the same description as given by the victim. The man was detained and an iPhone was found in his pocket. The telephone number of the victim was called and, sure enough, the iPhone found in the man’s pocket rang. He was charged with robbery and the story has a happy ending for the woman.

The “Find My Phone” app is used for other purposes as well. One policeman was missing his wife and toddler. He used the iPhone app to find their location after not being able to call. The app found his wife, using the iPhone, in the country. The woman had been involved in an accident, but the app pointed to their exact location. The officer, who happened to be on duty, was first on the scene and called in medical help on the way. The wife and child ended up with no serious injuries.

This app connects through the internet and reports to a web page. The “iCloud” service must be enabled, but that is done through the menus of the iPhone. The “Find My Phone” app comes with other features, such as the ability to delete all information, play a sound or lock the target iPhone or Android from a distance. A missing or stolen smartphone’s location will be displayed on a map. It is supported in 31 different languages and is not a huge size on the disk. It not only works with iPhones, but iPod Touches and iPads also. Having the app on your smartphone will help the owner to feel a little bit better walking through dangerous parts of town or in a tightly packed bus. Being prepared is good.
