Connecting a PC to the Internet using Windows Mobile

Connecting your computer to the Internet using a windows mobile device is easy. If you have a windows mobile with mobile data connection, you can connect it to a desktop using the Internet sharing application in-built in the mobile. This can be done in two ways – either through USB cable or through a Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network). USB cable can simply be connected from the mobile through the USB port to the desktop. In case of Bluetooth PAN, the desktop needs to be authorised and paired with the windows mobile device.

Connecting Through USB Cable:

This is the simplest way to connect your desktop to the Internet through your windows mobile. The USB cable has two ends, one goes into your Windows mobile phone and the other goes into the USB port of your desktop. Wait for few moments after doing this, as the drivers get installed after insertion of USB cable.

Connecting Through Bluetooth PAN:

Okay, the very first thing to check here is that the Bluetooth sharing is set to ‘on’ on both the devices. This can be checked by going into the settings of the mobile as well as the PC. On the taskbar, you would see a Bluetooth icon. Right click on this icon and search for devices. After you launch the Internet Sharing option, you will need to pair the windows mobile with your PC.

Launch Internet Sharing:

Go to the start menu of your Windows mobile and choose Internet Sharing. This application will present you a menu listing all the connection types available on your mobile. Choose Bluetooth PAN or USB. Next select the ‘connect’ option.

Disconnect:

To disconnect from the Internet, you simply need to press the disconnect button in your windows mobile phone.
